Before you can set compensation bands, you need to know what each level means. This template provides a competency-based job leveling rubric across five dimensions — scope of work, decision-making authority, technical expertise, leadership, and stakeholder management — for five levels (L1 through L5) applicable to any job family in any industry. Rate each person 1–5 on every dimension and the workbook computes a suggested level, a profile-fit read, and development areas, then rolls your whole team up into a level-distribution dashboard.
